Joy as a Daily Practice

This morning, as I sat eating my bagel, I glanced over and saw a little painting I made several weeks ago with the words, “Find Joy.” I love placing little sayings like this around my home, and finding joy has been a big theme for me since December.

This feels especially true now, as big shifts are happening in my household, opening the door for Nature Song to grow from a passion project into something that supports my family. I’m reaching out in new ways, stepping into unfamiliar territory, and navigating a pace that sometimes feels far too slow for my creative ideas. I want my offerings to fill up so I can bring them to life in a meaningful way and continue building toward a larger vision. I feel an urgency, a need for things to move faster, yet that urgency pulls me away from joy.

So I sat, eating my bagel, looking at this reminder to trust that things will happen and to keep following my joy. Because that is the only thing I can control and I know that creating things for Nature Song feels so much better when joy is involved. The ideas flow, the people show, and the excitement is contagious.

Exciting things are on the horizon for those involved in Nature Song—whether as a mother in the Forest Collective, a child in an upcoming camp, or a participant in a Joy Pod, where we celebrate play and silliness. When I slow my mind, trust the process, and give space for things to unfold, I know the right people will show up and become part of this journey. If I continue to follow the joy, everything will come together in ways I couldn’t have planned, leading to deeper connections, unexpected magic, and a community that grows exactly as it’s meant to.

Life is an evolving lesson!
